Steve Maharey is an advocate of New Zealand becoming the world’s leading “Food Nation”. He is currently an independent director. He was the Vice-Chancellor of Massey University from 2008-2016. Between 1990 and 2008, he was the Member of Parliament for Palmerston North and a Senior Government Minister holding a wide variety of portfolios including Education, Social Development, Science, Research and Technology and Employment. Earlier in his career he was a Jnr Lecturer in Business Studies and a Snr Lecturer in Sociology. He was awarded the Companion of New Zealand Medal (CNZM) in 2008.
